Writing the TGF recipe book is not like writing a normal recipe book, I have discovered. You have to check every product mentioned and say where you can source it from, which is taking some doing, I can tell you!
After chatting to a couple of you, I have decided to do a Recipe Series instead of a book, mainly to get the sections out to you as the book is going to take quite a while to complete and I know many of you are champing at the bit, needing guidance. But also, it will take some of the pressure off me too! I am constantly trying to fit in recipes between patients and phone calls, waiting for info from manufacturers (that they often don’t want to give and have to be chased numerous times for!) and clattering about in the kitchen to P and the cat’s amusement trying the different recipes out. As you know, trulyglutenfree recipe ingredients do not behave the same way as other ingredients and I often come out with something totally unexpected: good and bad!
So, Breakfasts will be launched early next week, or tomorrow if I can get it done, barring burns on fingers and pans on toes. After that, the Lunches section is almost there and will follow soon.
At the end of the process, I hope to have created sections for Breakfasts, Snacks, Lunches, Dinners, Drinks, Puds and Treats. As I go along, I am compiling a Larder List and a Supply List for you too. For example, I can’t just say ‘add a splash of juice’ without telling you which juices you might like that don’t contain citric acid, or which yogurt you can use without carageenan or alcohol-derived vanilla extract in it, can I?
Which reminds me, if you have found staple suitable TGF-safe products, please tell me about them so I can include those too.
Once this Recipe Series is done, I plan then to start all over again and find more for you – new ideas pop up every day. I shall save them and bring those to you too In Series 2 or The Revenge of the Recipes or something.
